Hello and welcome! I’m a hugger, so feel that first and foremost!
What is MOMTEMPLATIVE, and why did I start it?
I’ve been through a lot of different seasons of being a woman, and I think that’s why I get a lot of what so many of us go through.
But becoming a mom? That changed everything. I needed to know I wasn’t the only one having those dark, messy thoughts during the hardest parts of motherhood. And there are many!
There’s no one way to be a mom. We come from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs, which all shape how we parent and how we see ourselves as women.
But I do know this: we all want to know that other moms don’t have perfect homes, that sometimes you lose track of time and almost miss picking your kid up from daycare, or that you wonder if you’ll ever have a real adult conversation again because all you hear all day are Barney songs on repeat. (Yeah, I’m showing my age here.)
And nobody talks about the things that fill us with shame or guilt. We will do that here.
Now, I’m in the empty nest phase, and let me tell you, that can feel just as wild and scary as raising little ones. So that’s what I write about the whole journey, all the seasons in between.
If being a woman or a mom has ever made you want to laugh, scream, run away, or just be truly seen, Momtemplative is for you.
This space was born from all those moments; the confusing ones, the clear ones, the shame spirals, the breakthroughs, the rage, and the wild love. The ache of trying to do it all, and the quiet truth that maybe we were never meant to.
I do my best to maintain a genuine, raw, and honest approach with understanding. I hope always to speak the truth about how lonely it can feel between the hard and the blissful.
“In such moments, she could almost touch her loneliness, as if it were her second child.”
― Rachel Yoder, Nightbitch
About how messy and sacred it is to live in a body that changes so much, that gives life, that ages, that burns down and rises again.
This is a place where I hope to encourage you not to hide the wild, confused parts of yourself, where you can feel held, not fixed. Seen, not judged. Where it’s okay to say being a woman is the best thing and the hardest thing all at once.
I don’t have all the answers. Is there any answer but the one that appears to you? But, I’ve got a pen to keep writing and sharing as I learn and grow, a beating heart that will care and meet you where you are in your journey, and a deep respect for women like you who are brave enough to keep going.
If you've made it this far, I hope it means the message resonated with you and that you’ll be sticking around.
I invite you to join me, no matter the season you're in. Laugh when you want to. Cry if you need to. Scream if it helps. You’re not crazy, and you’re definitely not alone.
This isn’t self-help. This is self-reclamation.
And I am doing that one post at a time.
Welcome to Momtemplative

Monthly Live Panels – raw, unfiltered conversations with other women and mothers where we talk about the stuff that doesn’t usually make it into polite conversation.
Poetry from the in-between – once a month, I share poems pulled from my own messy, overflowing thoughts—when I’m not essaying, I’m spilling lines. (This one is new for me, so let’s see how this goes)
